When the iPhone 15 series launched, buyers complained a lot about excessive heat. Of course, Apple downplayed the issue, but eventually said it would improve thermals through software updates. However, there are still plenty of complaints online from people who feel their iPhone 15 gets a little too hot.

Thankfully, it seems Apple has taken this problem seriously and is determined not to let this happen with the iPhone 16 series coming this fall. According to a new leak from Majin Bu at X (formerly Twitter), we get a look at what the iPhone 16 battery could be.

Notably, the battery is the same shape and size as the iPhone 15. Interestingly, it’s made of metal. Most smartphone batteries are made of black foil, which doesn’t really help much in dissipating heat. However, a metal casing could help prevent the battery from overheating by managing heat better — at least, in theory.

On the other side, we see that the battery comes in at a capacity of 3,597mAh. This is slightly bigger than the battery on the iPhone 15, which had a capacity of 3,367mAh. This is expected to improve the battery life of the smartphone.

We expect the iPhone 16 series to include the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. However, the Pro Max model could be rebranded as “Ultra,” which could be quite a big change for the line. Either way, this launch will likely take place in September.

On Monday, we’ll see the WWDC 2024 keynote event, in which we expect Apple to announce a range of AI-powered features for iOS 18, which will come preloaded on the iPhone 16 phones.
