Apple today previewed iOS 18, a major release that includes more customization options, the biggest redesign of the Photos app ever, new ways for users to manage their inboxes in Mail, Messages over Satellite, and more. Users will be able to organize apps and widgets in any open space on the home screen, customize buttons at the bottom of the lock screen, and quickly access more controls in Control Center.

Apple iOS 18 new Features
Photo libraries in Photos are automatically organized into a new single view, and helpful new collections keep favorites easily accessible. Mail simplifies the inbox by sorting emails into categories using on-device intelligence, and all-new text effects come to iMessage. Powered by the same groundbreaking technology as existing iPhone satellite capabilities, users can now communicate over Satellite in the Messages app when a cellular or Wi-Fi connection isn’t available.
iOS 18 also introduces Apple Intelligence, a personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that combines the power of generative models with personal context to deliver incredibly useful and relevant intelligence.2 Built with privacy in mind from the start, Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. It uses the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, take actions in apps, and draw from personal context to make everyday tasks simpler and faster.
Apple announced new features for the upcoming iOS 18, and some people are worried that it will allow their partners to cheat more easily.
After the new update arrived in the US earlier this year, users will soon be allowed to lock and hide apps on their iPhone’s home screen, the company announced Monday following the Worldwide Developers Conference at Apple Park in California.
Apple stated that RCS will be available in Apple Messages.
The company shared that the feature is meant to help people keep their banking apps private and prevent children from accessing certain apps, such as Amazon, so they don’t make random, unsupervised purchases.
“Users can now lock an app, and for added privacy, they can hide an app by moving it to a locked, hidden apps folder,” the company shared.
“When an app is locked or hidden, content like messages or emails inside the app is hidden from search, notifications, and other places throughout the system.”
Not everyone shares Apple’s viewpoint, however, and some people are worried that it will allow their significant others to cheat.
It’s already easy to hide apps on iPhone by disabling the ability to find them in Siri Suggestions or hiding them in a folder, but iOS 18’s new feature adds another layer of protection for those who choose to betray.
Apple solves overheating issues in the iPhone 16.
But, the new feature of hidden apps allows the user to obscure the app’s icon and name on the home screen and even prevent notifications.
“Locked and hidden apps give users peace of mind that information they want to keep private, such as app notifications and content, will not be inadvertently visible to others,” Apple said on Monday.
“Users can now lock an app; and for added privacy, they can hide an app by moving it to a locked, hidden apps folder.”
However, creating a “hidden apps” folder will make it appear the same on the home screen.
Apple users can also lock apps already programmed into their phones, such as Mail, Messages, Notes, Phone, Photos, and Safari.
Those apps can be set to open only with Face ID.
This new feature on X immediately garnered interesting reactions after Monday’s announcement.
“iOS 18 and the new iPhones are going to make these birds cheat like mf…this is crazy. Relationships are over,” posted an X user.
Apple AI: The company will introduce “Apple Intelligence.”
Included in the new iOS 18 update, Apple also announced that users will be able to customize their home screen for iPhone, which allows you to rearrange the icons the way you want – unlike the current grid system that the company has been using since the release of the first iPhone in 2007.
Users can also change the color of their apps’ icons according to their preferences.
The tech giant also shared that the update will include Apple Intelligence, a new AI-powered system that responds to prompts, creates new text and images, and resolves problems for its users.
Apple Intelligence will have a Rewrite tool that users can use to help rewrite difficult messages. The tool can be adjusted to sound friendly, professional or concise depending on the user’s message.
“Integrating OpenAI’s ChatGPT into Siri and writing tools gives you even more expertise when it can be helpful to you — no need to jump between tools,” the company shared.
