Aranmanai 4 Movie Review: Sundar C’s Tamil horror-comedy stars Santosh Pratap along with Tamannaah Bhatia and Raashi Khanna. The Aranmanai franchise has worked for director Sundar C before and he is back with the fourth installment. Although some people might have disliked his previous Aranmanai films, the audience is very fond of him as Aranmanai 3 released in 2021 has become one of the most commercially successful films of the year. Aranmanai 4 is also based on a similar storyline that includes horror-comedy and fun moments for kids which appeals to the family audience. Since it will release in the summer, the family audience might like this film just like Aranmanai 3.
Aranmanai 4 Movie Premise
The story of Aranmanai 4 revolves around a big house in the middle of the forest, a supernatural power, a ghost, several comic characters, several children, a god, beautiful women, pujas, a song in honour of the gods and Sundar C himself who comes to save the day. The story of this film revolves around Selvi (Tamannaah Bhatia) and her husband (Santosh Pratap) who live in a big house in the forest with their two children. They are living a relatively happy life, when for some unknown reason her husband suddenly tries to kill her and the children.
The children survive this horrific attack, but the couple does not escape and the police inform Selvi’s brother, lawyer Saravanan (Sundar C) about this horrific incident. Saravanan and his aunt (Kovai Sarala) rush to Selvi’s house from the city and Saravanan decides to investigate what really happened. Saravanan along with the police investigate the whole tragedy, several unexplained deaths begin to occur, as well as the emergence of a ghost in their house.
Mastery (Yogi Babu) and Carpenter (VTV Ganesh) were helping Selvi’s husband in his work and they also start helping Saravanan in his investigation. Now, we also have Dr. Maya’s (Raashi Khanna) grandfather (Delhi Ganesh) who is handed over the house. The plan is to sell the house so that Maya can build a hospital and do social service.
During Saravanan’s investigation, he finds a religious leader who knows more about the ghost and when the police catch him, he reveals that there is another evil presence as well. Why is there a ghost in Selvi’s house? What is this other evil presence? How can they stop the deaths and get rid of this presence? How does Saravanan protect his family and does he find out what really happened to Selvi and her husband?
Aranmanai 4 Performances
Director Sundar C has roped in more actors in this franchise and along with the above-mentioned actors, we also have director KS Ravikumar, Rajendran, Singampuli, Vichu Vishwanath and V Jayaprakash. Thus, we have at least four comedians who will make us laugh while the glamour quotient is added by Raashi Khanna. Looking at the large cast, many of them just come and go (as expected) and none really stand out as we have seen them play similar roles in other movies as well. Tamannaah Bhatia, who is at the centre of the story, has played the role of a passionate mother quite commendably and Raashi Khanna has also done a good job as Maya. But the special appearance of Khushboo (who is married to Sundar C) and Simran in the second half of the movie was a pleasant surprise and made the movie even better.
Final Thoughts about Aranmanai 4 Movie
Sundar C’s Aranmanai series is for those who want to be entertained without any logic – they need some scary scenes, some funny dialogues and humorous exchanges between the cast, a few fights, some elements of faith, a peppy song and a climax where the evil is vanquished and everyone becomes a happy family once again. Now with four installments, it seems the director has nailed the concept because Aranmanai 4 is exactly about that. Aranmanai 4 is a timepass and if you go to watch it without any expectations, you won’t have much to say about the film but you won’t be very disappointed either.
