German automobile manufacturer BMW has launched electric sedan BMW i5 in India. With sporty looks and a capable drivetrain, this car is priced at over Rs 1 crore in India (ex-showroom price). Check out more details about its design, exterior, interior, drivetrain and battery pack here. The BMW i5 is based on the new generation 5 Series, from which the design of the electric sedan comes.
BMW unveiled the i5, an all-electric 5-Series car that comes with two motors: an entry-level model named the i5 eDrive40 and a high-performance model called the i5 M60. It will divide the discrepancy between these variants with the i5 xDrive40 in March.
The most noticeable exterior elements include the kidney-shaped grille (with lights on the sides), the iconic LED headlights (each with two DRLs), and the 20-inch M-specification wheels with red callipers. The EV maintains a low profile with a coupe-like roofline and extended rear bumper.

The BMW i5 is available in multiple metallic shades, which include M Brooklyn Grey, M Carbon Black, Cape York Green, Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, Sophisto Grey, Oxide Grey, and Mineral White.
BMW i5 Interior
The most attractive element in the interior is the dual-curved display setup, which seamlessly blends the 14.9-inch infotainment system into the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The cabin also includes four-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, ventilated seats (front), and a panoramic sunroof.
BMW i5 Battery
With an 81.2 kWh battery, the EV is rated to offer a range of 516 kilometres. People living near a 205kW DC charger can charge the battery pack from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.
BMW i5 powertrain
The all-wheel drive drivetrain comprises two electric motors that produce 601 PS of power and 795 Nm of torque. With a powerful battery and motor, the BWN i5 can go from zero to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 230 kmph.
BMW i5 Price
The BMW i5 is available only in the top-spec M60 xDrive variant and is priced at Rs. Rs 1,19,50,000 (ex-showroom). The company will start delivering the car in May 2024.
