OnePlus Open, the first foldable phone from the Chinese smartphone maker, has reached the category of one of the best foldable phones in 2023 (and is constantly rising). This would motivate OnePlus to prepare a sequel this year, right? We have heard that OnePlus Open 2 is not happening this year and will be launched in early 2025.

The information comes from various tipsters, including the most famous digital chat station (via Weibo). The Oppo Find N5 foldable is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025. Since Oppo and OnePlus phones go hand-in-hand, as evidenced by the entire OnePlus-numbered flagship series, that means if there’s no Oppo Find N5 (the next version using the same nomenclature as before), there won’t be one this year. There will be no OnePlus Open 2.

OnePlus Open 2 Specs

It is safe to assume that contrary to the timeline changes, OnePlus will launch the sequel, OnePlus Open 2, in early 2025. We don’t know much about the OnePlus Open 2. Still, unfortunately, we know that OnePlus has a thin and ultra-flat folding design with a high-resolution cover display.

Also, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, which will be announced later this year, followed by the early batch of adopters between the end of this year and early 2025.

Not much is known about the OnePlus Open 2. We hope OnePlus (and Oppo) retain last year’s periscope camera. We’re also exploring software enhancements to IPX8 water resistance, wireless charging technology, and foldable user interfaces and beyond.

OnePlus Open 2 Rival

The original OnePlus Open received many accolades and praise for its overall performance and value for money. In terms of competitive pricing, it is almost better than the Motorola Razr Plus, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Google Pixel Fold.
