Realme is working on 300W fast-charging technology.

Realme is taking another leap forward in fast-charging technology. Francis Wong, the head of global marketing at Realme, disclosed that the company is testing 300W charging technology in a recent interview with YouTuber TheTechChap.

Realme has always been at the forefront of charging technology. In 2021, the company introduced its 65W DartCharge technology with the GT Master Edition phone, which can fully charge its 4300mAh battery in 33 minutes.

The following year in 2022, Realme released the GT Neo 3 with 150W charging support, capable of charging a 4500mAh battery from 0 to 50% in just 5 minutes.

Then its last year’s flagship, the Realme GT Neo 5 (Review), introduced an even higher 240W charging speed, allowing users to fully charge their phone in less than 10 minutes. Its sequel is now set to come with an even faster 300W solution.

Redmi is currently the only brand to show off 300W charging technology for phones. Their demo shows impressive results, with the phone charging 50% in less than three minutes and fully charging in less than five minutes.

Details on Realme’s 300W fast charging technology are not yet known. The interview with Wong did not discuss specifics such as charging times or any drawbacks. It is also unclear when or if this technology will be available in commercially released smartphones.

Although fast charging offers a lot of convenience, especially for users on the go, it also has its disadvantages. Fast charging speeds can cause the phone to overheat, which directly impacts battery health and longevity.

Also, the company needs to ensure that it has the proper infrastructure to support such high-wattage charging, such as larger and more efficient vapor chamber cooling systems, which could increase the cost of the phone.

It will be interesting to see if Realme can overcome these challenges and bring 300W fast charging to the market. Every time this change happens, they get closer to completely eliminating the wait time for phone charging.
