Report: OnePlus Could Exit India and Several Global Markets by 2027
A new report suggests that OnePlus may be preparing to exit India and several international markets by 2027, expanding on earlier claims that the company plans to withdraw from the United States and Europe.
According to information shared by Bloomberg, OnePlus’ departure from Western markets could be part of a larger global restructuring strategy led by its parent company, Oppo. Sources familiar with the matter claim Oppo is considering scaling back OnePlus operations across most regions worldwide, while continuing to maintain the brand’s presence in China.
India Reportedly Included in Global Exit Plans
Earlier reports primarily focused on OnePlus leaving the US and European markets, leading many to believe that India would remain a key market for the brand. However, the latest information indicates that India could also be affected, although any potential exit is reportedly planned for a later stage.
If the report proves accurate, OnePlus could gradually reduce its operations in India before a complete withdrawal sometime in 2027.
Why Is OnePlus Considering This Move?
The reported decision appears to be linked to increasing business challenges faced by Oppo and its smartphone brands.
According to the report, smartphone sales have slowed in several key markets, including the US, Europe, and India. In addition, rising geopolitical tensions and regulatory challenges have made it more difficult for Chinese smartphone manufacturers to expand in some regions.
At the same time, Oppo is reportedly reviewing its global strategy and may choose to focus resources on markets where it continues to perform strongly, particularly in parts of Europe.
Signs of a Shift Already Visible in India
While neither OnePlus nor Oppo has officially confirmed the report, some recent changes in India have fueled speculation.
Over the past year, OnePlus has:
- Reduced its offline retail presence.
- Shifted more of its sales strategy toward online channels.
- Integrated parts of its customer service and after-sales support network with Oppo.
- Continued aligning its software experience more closely with Oppo’s ecosystem.
Industry observers have also noted that OxygenOS has become increasingly similar to Oppo’s ColorOS in recent years.
No Official Confirmation Yet
It’s important to note that these claims remain unconfirmed. Neither OnePlus nor Oppo has released an official statement regarding a potential exit from India or other global markets.
For now, OnePlus products continue to be sold and supported in India, and customers should treat the report as speculation until the company provides official clarification.
As more information becomes available, the situation may become clearer in the coming months.
