Suzuki introduced several updates to the second-generation Hustler, which has been on sale in Japan since 2020. The highlight is the addition of the new Suzuki Hustler Tough Wild trim, which crowns the kei car lineup with more rugged styling and water-repellent upholstery.

The new Tough Wild follows in the footsteps of offerings from aftermarket companies, with a new black grille that combines round LED headlights for a clean look, and revised bumpers with unpainted plastic cladding and a heavy dose of chrome-plated inserts .

Suzuki designers chose a black finish for the garnish around the light units, Hustler lettering on the hood, Tuff Wild emblem on the tailgate, roof rails, door handles and mirror caps, which matched the 15-inch alloy wheels. Exterior color options include three two-tone shades (Off Blue, Soft Beige and Vermilion Orange with black roof) and three monotone options (Cool Khaki Pearl, Steel Silver and Bluish Black Pearl).

Inside, the seats and door cards are covered with water-repellent fabric for owners who enjoy outdoor activities. Matte khaki inserts and stitching are unique to the Tough Wild trim, adding a military-inspired touch. Like all versions of the kei car, there are plenty of storage compartments around the four-seat cabin. Finally, when combined with the optional mattress, the seats can fold flat, converting the interior into a sleeping area for two adults.

Suzuki Hustler Engine

The Suzuki Hustler Tough Wild is available with both versions of the mild-hybrid 660 cc three-cylinder engine. The entry-level naturally-aspirated mill makes 48 hp (36 kW/49 PS), while the turbocharged engine is good for 63 hp (47 kW/64 PS). Power is transmitted to the front or all four wheels through a CVT gearbox.

Suzuki Hustler EV

Suzuki has confirmed plans for a fully electric version of the Hustler that will debut in Japan in the next few years. It remains to be seen whether the EV will be based on the existing second-generation Hustler, or a new third-generation model.
